Amanda Epp kicked off her healthcare career soon after earning her undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration from Ohio University. Being first is somewhat of a theme for Epp, as she was the first hire at ScriptDrop as well as one of the first employees hired at CoverMyMeds – where she played an integral role in that company’s swift growth and success (in 2017 it sold for more than 1 billion dollars to McKesson Corporation) during her eight-year tenure.

Today, Epp is President and Founding Team Member at ScriptDrop, a Grandview Heights-based startup that provides prescription delivery by connecting pharmacies to professional couriers. It too has experienced rapid success and momentum (they recently announced 80 more new jobs in Columbus by 2022). Epp’s role allows her to oversee the sales, marketing and business development teams, in addition to leading innovation in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector.

She has a true passion for her work in healthcare, as well as helping other women and girls chase their dreams. In addition to her impressive career path, Epp’s entrepreneurial spirit has led her to start Go Get the World, which “reaches young women through content, scholarship and mentorship opportunities.”

What gets you up in the morning? And what gets you through the work week?
I love what I do. I have been in healthcare my entire career because of how meaningful the work is. What I do every day directly impacts patient lives and there is nothing more rewarding. It also doesn’t hurt that I get to work with amazing people that help level me up and make me want to work harder every day. They are simply amazing.

What advice or mentors have helped guide you along the way?
I am very fortunate to have met so many amazing people in my career and continue to do so! But the greatest lesson of all has always been from my mother who was my inspiration behind the idea for Go Get the World who would always send me off with her love and support and to “go get the world” but she would be there if I needed her. I try to be the best I can be every day and Go Get the World in everything I do.

What do you do or where do you go to unwind?
I love going to the spa for a massage, hopping on my Peloton to unwind, hanging out with my friends and family, or on the couch binge-watching reality T.V. — the Real Housewives are my favorite, pretty much all of them.

When you were a kid, what did you say you wanted to be when you grew up?
What didn’t I want to be? It changed all the time. But the one I remember best is I wanted to own my own dance studio. I was always interested in the operations of business and was able to compare a poorly run dance studio to one that was run well (The Movement Center, shameless plug for them). Even as a student at the two studios, I found the operational differences fascinating and knew that I wanted to build something and work with people in some way one day.

What books or podcasts are you reading/listening to right now?
The book I am reading is “Principles” by Ray Dalio and the podcast I am listening to right now is Radical Candor. There is a book too, but the podcast is awesome!

What does it mean to you to be chosen for the Next Up Columbus award?
I like the “Next Up” award, because everyone is always growing and a leader’s work is never done, so the title is fitting! At ScriptDrop our theme this year as a company is “Level up” meaning we are trying to level up our teams, product, projects, processes, tools, events and ourselves. I think the Next Up award is a nod that we are heading in the right direction. But a leader’s journey is long, and fun!

If someone were to ask you what the “pulse” of Columbus is, what would you tell them?
Columbus is the new start-up scene and the true “heart of it all.” ScriptDrop actually pays honor to this with our heart logo. We want to continue to help put Columbus on the map with yet another amazing company that helps fuel the economy of our beloved city. The people, the companies and the passion we have is the “pulse.”
