Veneicia M. Smith is a passionate fitness coach, seasoned project management professional, and proud single mother of three. With multiple degrees and more than a decade of experience in corporate leadership, she has blended discipline and drive into every aspect of her life. But it was her personal journey of transformation — losing over 80 pounds — that truly ignited her purpose.
What began as a personal commitment to health became a calling. Veneicia became a certified fitness professional and began partnering with local gyms, the City of Columbus, Columbus Parks and Recreation, and other organizations to deliver high-energy classes and holistic wellness support. Her approach centers on lasting change—not just for the body, but for the mind and spirit.
That mission took a bold leap in 2024 when she opened Beast Mode Studio, a fitness and wellness space built on empowerment, community, and resilience. Through Beast Mode, Veneicia is creating more than a gym, she’s creating a movement where fitness becomes a way of life and transformation is always possible.
What gets you up in the morning? And what gets you through the workweek?
Just the blessing of waking up each day is enough to get me going. Each day that I am blessed with is reassurance that I have purpose. I never want to take life for granted, so each day I focus on my priorities and spend my time on the things that I am passionate about and that bring me joy. I get myself through the workweek by keeping my sights set on completing the tasks that push me closer to my goals.
What advice or mentors have helped guide you along the way?
In the midst of it all…………trust the process! During the process is where you’ll learn and grow the most.
I also owe so much to the immigrant women I serve — their resilience, humor, and wisdom remind me every day why this work matters. They’ve taught me that leadership isn’t always loud — sometimes it’s in showing up, again and again, with love and consistency.
What do you do or where do you go to unwind?
Home is my sanctuary — a place of peace, comfort, and grounding. Being with my boys and our dog fills me with a sense of joy and ease that nothing else can match. It’s where I rest, reset, and recharge. I’ve learned that you can’t pour from an empty cup, so I make it a priority to protect that time and space to stay balanced and present.

Local Cantina, Late Night Slice, Beeline, Easton.
When you were a kid, what did you say you wanted to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a News Reporter.
What books or podcasts are you reading/listening to right now?
Bible and Boss Up (Rick Ross).
What does it mean to you to be chosen for the Next Up Columbus award?
Being chosen for this honor is both a blessing and a privilege. I strive to show up fully and give my best in everything I do. Receiving this award is a powerful reminder that my efforts are making a real difference and helping me reach new heights. It’s not just recognition — it’s fuel. Fuel to keep growing, keep serving, and keep changing lives in the community.
If someone were to ask you what the “pulse” of Columbus is, what would you tell them?
The pulse of Columbus is vibrant and constantly evolving. It’s becoming a city of limitless opportunity — a place where anyone with a vision and the drive to pursue it can turn their dreams into reality. I was born and raised in Columbus, and I’m proud to call it my home.
