Allison Carr, 36, knew as a student at Bowling Green State University she wanted to work in retail and business.

“It was my focus and major in college,” said the Dublin resident, originally from Marion. “Having the ability to impact the lives of my associates and customers is an honor that I am grateful for each day.”

As an Express Store Manager at the Home Office Market, Carr wears many hats working for the retailer headquartered in Columbus, with over 600 stores across the United States.

“I recruit, hire and staff for one of the largest fashion retail brands in the country,” said Carr. “Developing talent has become a strength of mine.”

Carr believes every day is an opportunity. “I focus on creating an exceptional environment for my customers, through operational excellence, merchandise flow, and adhering to brand initiatives,” said Carr. “All of which creates a great experience for the customer and increases the business’s sales potential. I view my position as a small business owner and take pride in all the roles I play.”

One of those roles is playing a good friend to those in her life.

“I enjoy socializing with friends and family, cooking and trying new foods,” said Carr, whose favorite restaurant is Vaso, a rooftop restaurant in Dublin serving small plates. “I like to be active outside, whether that’s at a beach or a park.”

Parks are one thing her neighborhood of Dublin has in spades. But it’s so much more than that to Carr.

“I love the diversity in my neighborhood,” she said. “There are so many nationalities living in my community. And if you haven’t been to downtown Dublin in awhile, it is well worth it! It’s the perfect blend of modern and quaint atmospheres.”
