What gets you up in the morning? And what gets you through the workweek?
Besides my dog Harlow at 5:00 a.m., my workload motivates me. I have fun at work, and my projects are exciting and beneficial. I have such an amazing and supportive team and hands down, the best colleagues throughout the organization. Being out in the community to promote public transportation and hear stories from all walks of life gets me through the workweek. There is never a dull day.

What advice or mentors have helped guide you along the way?
The most recent advice or words of encouragement I’ve received were “You are in this role for a reason”. Imposter syndrome is real, and when I decided to branch out of the field of administrative work to more project management, I just knew I couldn’t do it. My peers reassure me that this is where I am supposed to be! They see the joy I have found in my space and how it reflects in my work.

What do you do or where do you go to unwind?
When it’s time to unwind, first things first is a nap! Other than that, I may binge-watch a sitcom from the ’90s. I may take a walk around my neighborhood, sit on my balcony, or on the building rooftop, and just chill. Headphones on, phone on DND. Just a bit of peace.

What are a few of your favorite local spots in Columbus?
I love going to the Columbus Commons in the summer. There is bingo on Thursdays at Pastimes or The Whitney House in Worthington, Yatz in Grandview, M&M Fish and Chicken, and Resch’s Bakery off E. Livingston Rd. Waves on E. Long St. Ground x Grind on E. Main St. Pins Mechanical (the Easton location). Columbus has so many gems!

When you were a kid, what did you say you wanted to be when you grew up?
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a background dancer in music videos, especially for MC Hammer. I was addicted to music videos as a child. It was MC Hammer and Missy Elliott that sparked my fascination. The downside to that dream was that I couldn’t dance.

What books or podcasts are you reading/listening to right now?
I just started listening to podcasts and really love music nostalgia, so I’ve been tuning into Shawn Stockton’s “On That Note”. Also, “R&B Money”.

What does it mean to you to be chosen for the Next Up Columbus award?
It means that my efforts in my profession and this community have not gone unnoticed by my peers. Being recognized for your contributions to the city you live, work, and play in means so much. Although I am not a Columbus native, I take pride in all that I do here.

If someone were to ask you what the “pulse” of Columbus is, what would you tell them?
The “pulse” of Columbus is the people and the immense opportunity to grow with and within the region.
