Currecia Gamble: Assistant by Day, Fashionista by Night
The amazing part of creativity is that anyone can be involved if they have the passion. Take Currecia Gamble for example. By day, she is the Executive Assistant to the President and CEO at the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation (COWIC). By night she articulates the Fashion Week Columbus brand as “the voice behind the scenes,” connecting with the fashionable people around the city and maintaining the brand via social media. Her passion led her to become involved in the event and, after three years on the board, now serves on the marketing committee. Gamble reminds young professionals that they do not have to consider themselves fashionistas to be fashionable. “It’s about what stands out to [you]. If you do a bright pink and tailor it with a neutral color, you can make it all work and be yourself. Even though we’re in corporate America we can still be ourselves and still show our personality.”
What would you say about your neighborhood?
Gahanna is an awesome place to live with many wonderful restaurants, community festivals and shops right at your fingertips. The community is a mixture of families and young professionals but with a small hometown feel that I enjoy. I love that Gahanna is in the center of the city so it takes me 20 minutes or less to get anywhere in Columbus.
What other neighborhoods do you frequent and what would you say about them?
Short North! Two words: Gallery Hop. German Village; love, love, love the different restaurants in the area!
What are some cool places in Columbus:
Too many to name, but I love North Market, Columbus Commons, Marcella’s, and Easton Town Center.
Favorite event in Columbus: Restaurant Week! My friends know it’s my favorite holiday twice a year.
If you could have been the inventor of something, what would it be?
Probably anything social media-related. I love social media and how you can connect with people from all over and find commonalities. It’s amazing how social media has taken off!
What inspires you?
My family inspires me because they have always taught me to do unto others as I would want them to do unto me. They have always opened their hearts and accepted people for who they are. My friends also inspire me because of their creativity and their “think outside the box” mentality. They have always been there to push me to my limits and challenge me. I always try to circle myself around people whose passion and mission is to contribute positive energy to the world, make something of themselves and help others along the way.
Pastimes:
In my spare time I am active in my sorority (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.). I love to read and spend time with my number one supporter (my husband) and we enjoy eating out and exploring all the new places to dine or enjoy happy hour in Columbus. I am a self-proclaimed foodie.
