Nick Potts, 30, has the necessary, positive attitude and fierce work ethic every self-starter needs to survive. It’s what has helped this entrepreneur and CEO of ScriptDrop project $3-4 million in revenue in 2018 alone.
“We’re growing faster than we expected or ever thought,” Potts said of his healthcare IT company, whose first product is prescription delivery for pharmacies. “Startups are hard, so I work a lot. Now, I’m working to build a superstar team and get out of their way.”
Before founding ScriptDrop, Potts worked at CoverMyMeds, where he learned about the pharmaceutical business.
“Patients were dropping off prescriptions and the pharmacy would tell them to come back, but about 1 in 4 patients would never return,” said Potts, originally from Nashville, Tenn., who moved to Columbus with his girlfriend (now wife) and now calls Worthington home. “We help remove that barrier from having to get their meds by delivering prescriptions.”
ScriptDrop has been operating for a little over two years. Their largest contract is Albertson’s (formerly Rite-Aid). The service is currently offered in 10 states and preparing to roll out in California soon.
“It’s doing really well,” he said.
Interestingly, Potts, who earned a finance degree from Middle Tennessee State University, had aspirations for something a little different and a little more Big Apple.
“I loved the stock market and investing,” he said. “At one point I wanted to move to New York City and work for a hedge fund or something.”
Instead, Potts is here in Central Ohio enjoying his business and helping other entrepreneurs.
“I have worked in the community on the start-up weekends,” said Potts. “Most recently I went to an event as a mentor for SmartCity Columbus. I went for the weekend and weighed in on other people’s business models.”
Potts enjoys taking guests to the Columbus Zoo and eating at his favorite hot spots.
“I love Tai’s Asian Bistro,” he said. “They have really fantastic Asian food.”
