Virtual Art Events in Columbus

By Merry Austin

Art is a way to communicate directly to the heart. This can be done through illustration, writing, painting, performances, music, ANYTHING that requires creativity. People turn to creating as they navigate their own lives to help others feel less alone. (Think of how many breakup songs there are.) Art can bring people together and help them to recognize we all feel the same emotions. We may not have the same experiences, but we all have feelings whether we admit it or not. Art reminds us that there is still beauty in the world and to look for those moments around us. Historically, people turn to art to help them through difficult times. Think of a couple major events for a moment and you may start to recognize the hope that rose from the ashes of grief.

COVID-19 is no different. People are home with their emotions and are turning towards creating to help them express what they’re feeling. Art festivals and concerts are continuing to happen – virtually. Here are some events and local resources, currently available in the Columbus area to help you remain connected through this time of uncertainty.
